Who we are
BarLock is operated by CODE IN MOTION SRL, a company based in Romania. CODE IN MOTION SRL is the data controller, meaning the company responsible for the personal data described in this policy. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" mean CODE IN MOTION SRL. "You" means the person using the BarLock app or barlock.app.

What leaves your phone
BarLock has no account and no sign-in. The app has no analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and it never sends anything to us on its own. It talks only to Apple: the App Store for the Lifetime Pro purchase and iCloud for sticker sync. Alarms, notifications, the widget, and the Live Activity run through iOS on your phone.
Information reaches us from the app only when you send it yourself, or when Apple passes on a crash report you chose to share. Send Feedback in BarLock's Settings opens an email to us in your mail app. The app fills in your device model, iOS version, and app version, and notes if you have Lifetime Pro. You can edit or delete any of it before you send the email.
Information BarLock handles
This information stays on your phone or in your own iCloud account. We receive it only if you put it in an email to us.
- Alarm and mission data, such as alarm time, repeat days, sound choice, Wake-Up Check and Tiptoe Mode settings, mission label, the code from the barcode or QR code you chose, and a photo of the item that carries it.
- Whether you own Lifetime Pro, which the app reads from the App Store on your phone. Apple handles the payment. We do not receive your payment details, your Apple Account, or your purchase history.
- Sticker progress, meaning which stickers you have earned and when, the days you completed a mission, and a scrambled version of each alarm's code so the app can count different items.
- A copy of your sticker progress in your own iCloud account, if your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, so a new or second iPhone shows the same stickers. We cannot read that copy. The app has no switch of its own. To stop the sync, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then See All under Saved to iCloud, and turn off BarLock. That stops future syncing.
Only this information reaches us.
- Emails you send us, with your email address, your message, any screenshots you attach, and the details Send Feedback fills in.
- Crash reports and usage statistics for BarLock that Apple shares with us, only if you turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings. They do not carry your name or Apple Account.
- Connection data for each visit to barlock.app, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser. Our content delivery network sees it on the way in, and our server receives it to serve the page.
Permissions and local data
BarLock asks for camera access so it can scan the barcode or QR code on the item you choose and save a photo of that item. The app keeps the code to check your scan when the alarm rings, and one photo, which the app and the widget show. The app never sends the camera image, the code, or the photo anywhere. Only the scrambled version of the code goes to your iCloud account, as part of your sticker progress. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the backup includes BarLock's data, as it does for every app. The widget and the Wake-Up Check Live Activity read your alarm data on your phone.
BarLock asks for alarm and notification permissions so iOS can ring your alarms and show BarLock's notifications. You can turn any permission off in iOS Settings. Without alarm permission, BarLock cannot schedule alarms through iOS. Without camera access, it cannot scan a code.
How we use information
- Ring your alarms and run BarLock's missions, scanning, and Lifetime Pro features on your phone.
- Check that a scan matches the code saved for the alarm.
- Show the photo of the item in the app and the widget.
- Show the stickers you have earned, and keep them the same on a new or second iPhone through your iCloud account.
- Unlock Lifetime Pro and restore it on a new phone, through the App Store.
- Answer your emails and fix the bugs and crashes you report or that Apple reports to us.
- Keep barlock.app running and block abuse, which our content delivery network does with the connection data it sees.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Legal bases for processing
We are based in the EU, so the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to the personal data we hold, wherever you live. We handle your emails because we have a legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us, and, if you use BarLock, as part of the service we promise in our Terms. We let our hosting provider and content delivery network process connection data for barlock.app, and we read crash reports, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and fixing bugs. Legitimate interest also covers enforcing our Terms and passing information to a buyer of BarLock. We keep or hand over information when a law requires it. We make no decisions about you by automated means, including profiling.
You do not have to give us any personal data to use BarLock. If you email us, we need your email address to reply. To load barlock.app, your browser has to send connection data, including your IP address.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. We share the emails and the connection data that reach us only with the following.
- An email provider that stores our mail, including your support emails, on servers in the EU.
- A hosting provider in the EU that runs barlock.app, and a content delivery network that sits in front of the site and sees each request, including your IP address.
- Professional advisers, authorities, or courts, when a law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
- A company that takes over BarLock, if we sell or transfer it. That company must follow this policy or publish a replacement.
Apple handles the Lifetime Pro purchase, the iCloud sticker sync, and crash reports directly with your iPhone, under Apple's privacy policy. We do not send your information to Apple.
Retention
Alarm and mission data stays on your phone until you delete the alarm or uninstall the app. Deleting an alarm deletes its code and its photo, but not its entry in your sticker progress. The app has no way to delete sticker progress, and iOS Settings does not list it under Manage Account Storage, so the copy in your iCloud account stays there and comes back if you reinstall the app. We delete support emails one year after the last message in the thread. Our providers keep connection data only as long as they need it to serve and protect the site. Our own server keeps no log of visits.
International transfers
Our email and hosting providers store our data in the EU. Our email provider is based in Australia, so it may handle your emails from outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Our content delivery network runs worldwide, so the connection data it sees may be processed outside the EEA, including in the United States. When a provider handles personal data outside the EEA, it does so under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses in our agreement with it. Email us for a copy of those clauses.
Your privacy rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict how we use it, and to get a copy of it. Of the information that reaches us, only your emails identify you to us, so a request covers those emails. You can delete the data on your phone by deleting the app. You can stop the iCloud sync, but BarLock gives you no way to delete the sticker copy already in your iCloud account, and we cannot see, change, or delete it.
You have the right to object. You can object at any time to any processing we base on our legitimate interest. Email us and we will stop, unless we have compelling grounds to continue, such as keeping the site secure.
To make a request, email [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm that you sent the emails in question before we act. You can also complain to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or to Romania's authority, ANSPDCP, at dataprotection.ro.
Children
BarLock is not directed to children under 16. The app collects nothing from anyone, children included. If a child has emailed us and you want that email deleted, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We hold no app data on any server, so a breach of our systems cannot expose your alarms, codes, or photos, except anything you put in an email to us. On your phone, BarLock keeps its data and photos in its own app storage, protected by iOS data protection. We limit access to the support mailbox and the hosting account to the people who run BarLock.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as BarLock changes. We post each new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
