BarLock is an iPhone alarm app for people who can dismiss normal alarms while still half asleep. A user arms an alarm, registers a barcode or QR code attached to a real-world object, and must scan that exact target to clear the alarm. The checkpoint can be toothpaste by the sink, coffee in the kitchen, a book, or a printed code by the door: waking up happens wherever the scan target lives.

The app is built around Apple's AlarmKit system alarms rather than background timers, so protected alarms ring like real alarms. Around the core scan mechanic, BarLock adds a Lock Window that freezes alarm edits before ring time, Backup Alerts that ring again if the alarm is stopped without a scan, and an optional Wake-Up Check that confirms the user stayed up after dismissal. Tiptoe Mode, added in version 3.0, keeps the alarm quiet for 5, 10, or 15 seconds after Stop so the user can reach the scan target without waking anyone else. If the scan does not happen in time, full volume returns. A sticker book of twelve collectible achievements rewards consistent mornings, with the rarest stickers finished in a tilt-responsive holographic foil.
